COURSE OBJECTIVES

 

This course utilises the Essential Literacy Approach (ELA) and teaches participants how to plan and execute lessons by applying the Orton-Gillingham (OG) principles in the remediation of persons with language processing problems associated with dyslexia. The training encompasses the theoretical as well as the practical and experiential aspects of learning, allowing participants to truly understand the core principles and work at applying those principles into their teaching practice.

  • Role-play – group work to apply practical skills of lesson planning and execution (requires preparation time outside of training hours)

 

Note: Assessment is compulsory for students in the Specialist Diploma in SpLD

 

CERTIFICATION AWARDED

 

  • A Certificate of Achievement will be awarded to participants who attain at least 75% attendance and successfully pass the assessment.
  • A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to participants who attain at least 75% attendance but do not wish to undertake the assessment.
