TARGET PARTICIPANTS

 

Parents, caregivers and educators who work with children between the ages of 11 to 16 (Primary 5 to Secondary 4)

 

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

 

The workshop provides a fundamental understanding of how Assistive Technology (AT) helps learners (aged 11-16) with learning differences to be more independent in their classroom and exam environments. Participants will be introduced to the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Human Activity Assistive Technology (HAAT) Frameworks. These frameworks in turn will give the fundamentals of how an AT-infused learning model will function and its use in promoting independence in students with learning differences.

 

BRIEF COURSE CONTENT

 

Topics:

1. Assistive Technology and its key principles

2. Universal Design for Learning

3. Accommodations for learners (aged 11 to 16) with learning differences

4. Assistive Technology- infused instructional and learning models

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

 

  • Appreciate the key principles of Assistive Technology
  • Recognise the components of the Universal Design for Learning
  • Gain a better understanding of the accommodations for learners (aged 11 to 16) with learning differences
  • Acquire strategies to design Assistive Technology-infused learning models.

 

COURSE DELIVERY

DAS Academy will be delivering the workshop with dual-mode of learning; face-to-face or online via live-stream on Zoom. Please indicate your preferred mode of learning in the registration form. Please note that you will not be allowed to change your preference once the registration is completed.
